The Moon and The Sun
I walked outside, the bitter cold
Seemed to nibble at my cheeks
I felt so cold, my feet were ice
It was as if I had been icy cold for weeks
I trembled as I walked alone
Briskly up the road I went
Then I glanced at the morning sun
To see what warmth she lent
Bright she was, too bright to watch
I squinted at her morning light
Then out of the corner of my eye
I saw the Mistress of the Night
Yet, it was late morning!
The sun and moon stood side by side
What miracle was this I saw?
Both shone strong with pride!
My mouth gaped open in delight
I turned as I looked at both moon and sun
The enchantment of them as a couple
And yet the day was just begun!
The moon was surrounded by light blueness
The colour of the morning sky
She bathed in the darling colour
As the sun, she watched from on high
A miracle it seemed to me
That the moon was clothed in day
But as the day progressed in full
She'd faded right away!
Still my mind keeps precious that memory
Of sun and moon, in a morning embrace
When I remember that delightful morn
It always brings a smile to my face
