The Fly
Once upon an evening,
When the neighbours were all leaving
I heard a little buzzing from my drain
I listened to that bitter ballad
From a fly looking for salad
And the pitter patter of tiny feet
As it came up through the drain
And do small circles, such a pain
I heard the others begin to ascend
This one fly landed on my shoulder
And i slapped it ever harder
But it still managed to escape
No matter how I tried to deal
I heard its buzzing laughing peal
As it zig zagged my cranium
I'm sure I maybe killed the fly
But now its brother goes on by
And almost lands upon my face
I thought I heard some church bells ringing
But a fly was loudly singing
As it flew onto my lunch
I begged for them to leave me be
But they didn't much agree
As they circled my cranium
Kill one, a hundred more are there
Getting stuck inside my hair
And in my drink of lovely ale
