Deceit
They lie, and they steal my soul
They kill my spirit with false words
They choose what they say with such care
But, I know what deceit is
They listen hypocritically to my heart
Words I say with sincerity
They nod their head and understand
When all the time they don't
Look! Life has such splendour
Look! People are so beautiful
Why then do they deceive?
Are they afraid of the truth?
Does my mind deceive my heart?
With false images and illusions of grandeur
The hypocrisy of the situation is
That we should never know
Do they think I'm simple or blind?
To shrug off this knowledge, truth and lie
Individual intellect may vary some
Truth is hidden behind the soul
I'm a subject of the life I live
A chess piece on an open board
A being full of undiscovered knowledge
If only it could be unlocked
Deceit is such an ugly word
That applies to everyone
Whether deceit is intentioned or not
We are all guilty of this imperfect sin
